Radio Clown Mark Levin Calls Embryonic Stem Cell Research A "Hoax" Perpetuated By Liberals, Fertilization Clinics

Radio clown Mark Levin claimed on last night's radio rant that embryonic stem cell research is a "hoax."

Levin said that the "hoax" was being perpetuated by liberals and promoted by the liberal media, apparently doing the bidding of fertilization clinics, which he claimed want to be in the business of selling embryos.

It's hard to believe even Levin's loyal listeners would believe such fact-challenged ideas.

In truth, it's Levin who is creating the hoax, doing the bidding of a tiny minority of Americans. While Levin called the issue "divisive" to the nation, a new study shows that the vast majority of Americans -- including about 66% of Republicans -- believe in the promise of embryonic stem cell research. While Levin claims that embryonic stem cell research is a "hoax," scientists and doctors universally disagree.

Levin, who isn't a doctor, went on to claim that liberals are ignoring the promise of other reserach, regarding adult stem cells and the use of viruses. That's simply not true.

You won't find liberals suggesting this is a debate of embryonic stem cell research vs. every other research. You will find liberals -- and moderates and even a majority of conservatives -- who believe that scientists should proceed with all avenues in the pursuit of cures for such things as Parkinson's Disease, Lou Gehrig's Disease, Juvenile Diabetes and Alzheimer's Disease, among others.

In truth, it's Levin who is being "divisive," loioking for anything that can demonize liberals, and make an American majority feel like the fringe left, on the eve of the mid-term elections.

As they say "Ignorance is Bliss".
You can wake up everday knowing there are no facts that make you have a bad day!!

You wouldn't expect Levin to want to trouble his sheep flocks with something resembling facts, would you?

Combined with JABBS link, here's another link for a nice summary of the advancements in embroyonic stem cell research so far.

And here's a response to TRINITY below who suggests the drug companies have "abandoned" embryonic stem cell research because it is useless. From the above link, here's the real reason, and as usual it has to do with profits:

"The Bush administration's decision does not prohibit private embryonic stem cell research. Pharmaceutical companies and biotechnology companies initially expressed little interest because they consider therapies based on cells, which might have to be tailored to each patient, to be less profitable than one-size-fits-all drugs."

The drug companies say it's useless? Think about how much money they make on people suffering, and in turn taking their products? They don't want competition... period.

Apparently he/she is incapable of DEBATE. Apparently, he/she isn't up to the CHALLENGE I presented before.

Are you meaning an Iraque/Afganistani Child , Muslim Child or American Child?

You are one sick person!!

You tell us who favors wars but never wants to fight in them where many children are killed, who favors the death penalty even based upon un-relaible eyewitness evidence or favors the abortion of thousands of un-used viable embryoes in Fertility Clinics.

As I have said to Trinity, you probably support $billions spent by our military to find better and faster ways to kill millions of people quickly.

And then you ask if Libs are for killing babies? Your also a maron!

It's great having a Repig basing his opinion on faith-based science

Repigs like this would have told Columbus not to sail to India because, after all, the World is flat.

A Repig friend just refuses to handle the truth about stem cells

This guy, a friend who otherwise is a good person, can't get over how he can be against stem cell research (calls it cloning) yet is for in vitro fertilization and doesn't get how embryos are thrown out...instead of being used for science.

It's a head scratcher...

I had the misfortune of coming across Levin's show on Sirius.
What a blathering ass.

I'm sure that if someone suggested 100 years ago that we would be able to cure infections using a medicine dirived from mold it would have been considered a hoax, too.

Just because the research is in its infancy does not mean that it holds no promise. If we quit before we even get started we will never know for sure what could come of it.

And This Is, Of Course, Based upon His Years Of Scientific Background Right? What do you mean no? He has no background in science? No background in anything other than ranting like an idiot? I'm shocked. SHOCKED! Who would think a radio ranter would have no education or knowledge in those things about which he or she rants?

Oh wait. I guess that applies to all of them. Doesn't it?

Is it possible that the Levinites DON'T AGREE with their "fearless leader" on this issue?

Or are they just overwhelmed by the OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE THAT THEY WERE LIED TO by Levin?
