Pennsylvanians Rejecting Santorum's Multiple Efforts To Trick Voters

A new poll from Rasmussen shows Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) trailing Democrat Bob Casey Jr. by 10 points.

It shows, perhaps, that Pennsylvanians are not buying into Santorum's hyperbole this campaign season. In spite of an onslaught of dishonest moves by Santorum in recent weeks, Casey actually added to his lead from Rasmussen's August poll.

-- They're ignoring Santorum's latest television advertisement, which makes false claims about who's donating money to Casey's campaign.

-- They ignored Santorum's lie about Casey's ties to Al Jazeera on Fox News Channel's The O'Reilly Factor.

-- They didn't pay attention when Santorum made misleading claims about discovering Iraqi weapons of mass destruction.

Santorum also hasn't been significantly helped by asking his supporters to pour thousands of dollars into the campaign of Green Party candidate Carl Romanelli. Rasmussen's poll has Romanelli at just 5%.

Maybe if Casey would finally release his financial records, the people of Pennsylvania would see what a crook he is. For Gods sake, if Kerry can release all his military records...oh never mind.

Well, Anonymous, how do you know Casey is crooked without his financial records? Just the typical Repuke attempt at debate!

Too bad Casey won't agree to participate in the two debates scheduled for Monday, September 25. It would be a perfect time to challenge Santorum and the Green Party candidate and to present his views on important issues, as well as to clear up any misconception the public might have concerning his campaign donors. ;)

That would be the misconception created by Santorum's deceitful advertisement?

Let's see, Santorum lies about Casey, and then Casey should debate Santorum in order to clear up the lie.

Here's a thought: maybe Santorum shouldn't lie about Casey.

You mean misconceptions "repukes" might have about his campaign donors. Do you mean that all donors to the repuks are lilly white, like the big oil companies, like the pharmaceuticals, like several lobbyist, like the construction industry, like Scaife, like Jack Abramoff, like all of Tom Delay's friends, like all of the war profiteers, like the "swift boat groups", and like religious organizations??? Give the world a break Trinity, everybody is not mis-informed and easily fooled like 99.9% of repukes.

I probably should have put the word misconception in quotes, rob, since when I wrote that Casey should attend those two debates "to clear up any misconception the public might have concerning his campaign donors", my tongue was firmly planted inside my cheek. :) He is obviously not too eager to discuss this issue in public.

And it's a stretch to say that Santorum is out and out lying in this hard-hitting campaign ad, rob. Does the ad use hyperbole? Yes it does. But generally speaking, I do not have a problem with negative ads in politics, providing that they are based on facts, and the fact is that Casey has benefitted in his political career from hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions from these less than reputable individuals left unnamed in Santorum's ad.

As as been stated here, Santorum is behind in his Senate race, and so he is using tough, bare knuckle tactics on his opponent. His re-election is very important to those of us who appreciate his grasp and understanding of what it is we are dealing with regarding the war against Muslim extremists. I believe he is vital to our efforts to win that war, and I would support him wholeheartedly on that basis alone.

If he is doesnt want to release his records then it is pretty safe to say he is hiding something that just isnt right. An innocent man doesnt run or hide. Kind of like John Kerry. If he runs again for president will he release ALL of his military records or does he not want everyone to know that he shot himself in the ass with rice in order to get out of Viet Nam? You DemonRats want records of real Americans, you just want to hide the records of anti-American liberal pond scum.

Conservative Lancaster TV station labels Santorum ad FALSE

Conservative Lancaster WGAL TV does an ad watch of political ads, and labeled a Santrorum attack ad on Casey as FALSE. The ad suggested that Casey basically hired thugs and criminals to run his campaign and took political donations from criminals for senator. Not only did they label the ad FALSE, it turns out two of the guys Santorum attacks as givin moeny to Casey (whcih by the way they didn't) ACTUALLY gave money to the Santoru campaign.

Hysterical, and Santorum keeps running the ads. WGAL TV says even thoug the ad is FALSE they are required udner law to run a FALSE ad.

Bizarre.

Welp.. it only goes to show (I suppose ) that Casey has support from a wide spectrum of people in Pennsylvania.

Kudos to that station for being honest.

I guess by your logic GWB has a lot to hide. There is no one that hides every piece of information about himself and his father as he does. GWB would not even release his high school, college, or graduate school grade history. He would not release anything about his fake guard duty.

I'll tell you something else, GWB is the only person I know that claims to have gotten his wings, but never has shown a picture of them nor shown a picture of him wearing his "wings" on a military uniform. I have been associated with many people that got their "wings" in the military and they will die wearing their "wings" because they are so proud. If you do not believe this you repuke that has probably never been near anything military, just ask a military flyer the next you see one!! So, what is GWB hiding about his not really having attained his "wings", the hippocrit( this spelling means a "big fat liar"). And you must be a sheep in Bush's flock!!

You're right, an innocent man doesn't hide the truth. Like George Bush releasing the records of his drunk driving arrest and previous cocaine use. Or Cheney revealing who attended the Energy Commission meetings.

And hey, if Santorum has proof that his opponent has been taking money from shady sources, why not actually name those sources? Ohhh, that's right...because Santorum has taken money from the same sources.

Every single day I cannot help pondering this thought.
With all the good, decent, competent, experienced, capable people who could be president. Of all the good, decent, competent, experienced people our who have tried unsuccessfully through the years to surmount the often unfair barriers imposed by the media and the party leaders to become president.
Of all the people with the proper experience and background in government, leadership and the military.
How and why in the world is our president as terrible a choice as George W. Bush!!?? And for two terms????!!!.
Arrgghhhh!

That's just so lame. I don't know if GWB ever did cocaine or not, but if it doesn't bother you that Bill Clinton, according to his own brother, had a nose like a vacuum cleaner, then why should you even mention anyone else's past use of drugs? Clinton never even released his full medical records while president. Bush has.

As far as Cheney's Energy Task Force, I think it's hysterical that libs would be critical that the Bush administration sought advice about energy policy from utility companies and the gas, oil, coal and nuclear energy industries. Who should they have consulted on the issue? Disney?

And hey, if Santorum has proof that his opponent has been taking money from shady sources, why not actually name those sources?

He did provide the names to FactCheck.org. And it's a matter of public record that Casey has taken hundreds of thousands of dollars from these people during his various political campaigns.

The measley $3,500 total that Santorum received from two of the named persons has been donated to charity.

I would extrapolate it based on a comment that is essentially a scurrilous allegation - and a ridiculous one to boot. (Shot HIMSELF?) Slam Kerry all you want for his political views, fine. But this is out of bounds.

And what I'm saying is, there's brave men and women fighting in Iraq right now. And 30 years from now, one of them will be running for office, and will take an opinion that someone like anonymous doesn't like, and anonymous or someone like him will end up saying this person really wasn't that brave in Iraq, and actually stabbed himself to come home early or cried under his bed instead of going out fighting or some other such bullsh*t.

So I repeat again, anonymous, why do you hate the troops?

As far as records.
Why should either candidate release every
single record in their lives, to the Pulic?
Most of the Public are low birth rabble to
begin with. None of whom, could stand up to
the scrutiny, they expect of these 2 men.
I would vote for any candidate, that told
the riff raff to stick it, with their

you're self rightious asses.
Are you Amercians, or Witch Hunters ?
Or have they become one in the same?

I'll tell you one thing Ricky is good at - creating straw men, or in other terms setting up a problem then blaming his opponent for not solving it in advance of even knowing it exists.

I'm not even from PA - here in KY, we have our own problems to deal with, like one senator who's a sociopath and one who's suffering from incipient Alzheimer's - but Santorum is one nasty piece of goods, folks. If there were ever a senator who needs to be defeated, it's Santorum.

And I simply cannot believe that someone actually posted the above link to factcheck.org as an attempt to VINDICATE Santorum. Did you read it carefully, Trinity? It's not a matter of the amount Santorum received, it's the hypocrisy. Either the people "mentioned" in the ad are bad guys from whom a pol should not accept donations, or they're not - Santorum can't say it's OK to take a little money from them, but not a lot. And no, he didn't give all the tainted money to charity - only some of it. One is tempted to ask which charity?

Read more carefully, Trinity - this factcheck piece does NOT exonerate Santorum. It just makes him look even more like a hypocritical ass.

As if that were possible...

Every country gets the government it deserves, according to Karl Marx. This adolescent, punk-a** teenager of a country - and I'm an American - is so imbued with diversion and acquisition that it makes its choices impetuously and for irrelevant reasons. It was ripe for the plucking, and the select few that believed themselves to be worthy and capable of wielding supreme executive power have worked the system in all manner and form to perpetuate their autocracy. And we've let it happen...

Here is a question for the Man on Dog Santorum supporters: What other wealthy politician forces six kids to sleep in the same bedroom?

That is teh absurdity we are expected to believe with Santorum's BS claims of being a resident of the Penn Hills School District. It has cost taxpayers over $60,000 to pay for Santorum's kids cyber charter school because of the absolute fraud he has perpetrated there. A two-bedroom house is supposed to be the HOME of a faily with six kids?

And then there is the little matter of the $500,000 private bank mortgage for his real home, the one in Virginia, which appears to violate Senate ethics rules since it is not a loan that would be available to other members of the public.

Won't even get into the laundry list of corrupt favors for campaign donations, or the dubious tactic (pioneered I believe by our boy Tom Delay) of fronting as a charity to pay campaign staffers.

Santorum is so crooked he needs to screw on his pants.

Of course we start with the very simple premise that even if those blatantly false claims had any validity, at least he was there, not back in Texas, or Alabama, or wherever Bush actually hid while snorting coke and avoiding the war.

Takes balls the size of church bells for a repug to talk about others releasing their military records.

I am not a Pennsylvanian, but I am an American. I also am a Vietnam veteran who served honorably. What disgusts me most about Mr. Santorum is that he consistently lies, and he consistently has violated every ethical and moral and democratic principle that a US Senator swears to uphold. I did live in Philadelphia at one time. I met some absolutely bright and fascinating people. I met military members who were dedicated and who loved their country. The outright desecration of this nation's principles by the Bush regime and its ass-kissers is utterly disgusting and immoral. They are destroying the nation I served to protect. Among them are criminals and liars and crooks and thieves and thugs. Santorum must be defeated. The Republican fear-mongers and draft dodgers and slime must be thrown out of office in November - including the lying bigot Santorum. PEACE
