"Just Don’t Smooch Him, Mr. President"

Headline of the week: "Just Don’t Smooch Him, Mr. President."

It heads a Sept. 17 blog post from Denver Post columnist Dan Haley, who writes that President Bush will campaign for Colorado gubernatorial candidate Bob Beauprez on Oct. 4. Beauprez trails Democrat Bill Ritter by 8 percentage points in the latest Wall Street Journal/Zogby poll.

The reference, of course, is to Bush's infamous kiss of Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-CT), which combined with a lovefest from the conservative media, probably cost Lieberman a primary victory against challenger Ned Lamont.

Lieberman subsequently began a run as an independent. Polls show Lieberman in a tight race in his rematch against Lamont.

Colorado Republicans no doubt hope for better results from a Bush appearance.

New button for Repub candidates: "Don't kiss me, Dubya."

Because you know when Dubya kisses ya, it's the kiss of political death. Should we start calling bush Warfinger?

Amazing how you libs hung Lieberman out to dry. I guess voting wit the party 9 out of ten times just isnt enough for you backstabbers. Kind of like how some cowardly Republicans hung Trent Lott out to dry. You have got to love politics.

So Democrats are not allowed to have freedom of choice when they vote? They have to vote for the incumbent, whether or not they disagree?

Anonymous, please tell me you're an American. You sound like a Stalinist.

It's simple.
Loeserman lost because the majority of Connecticut residents, and especially Democrats, observe the catastrophic failure of the Bush "stay the course" strategy in Iraq, in which he Loeserman fully advocated and supported.
Iraq is a massive issue to the U.S.. Loeserman's support of a losing position of a loser justifies Democratic voters and anyone else with common sense desiring to rid of him.
I wish we could give both Loeserman and Bush a big fat kiss -- Goodbye!
