Coulter Guilty Of Plagiarism? You Be The Judge

"Ann Coulter has a bad habit. And that habit ... is that she appears to like to copy whole sentences from other sources without putting them in as quotes or even citing where she might have "paraphrased" from. You judge for yourself:

Here's Coulter from Chapter 1 of Godless: The Church Of Liberalism: The massive Dickey-Lincoln Dam, a $227 million hydroelectric project proposed on upper St. John River in Maine, was halted by the discovery of the Furbish lousewort, a plant previously believed to be extinct.

Here's the Portland Press Herald, from the year 2000, in its list of the "Maine Stories of the Century": The massive Dickey-Lincoln Dam, a $227 million hydroelectric project proposed on upper St. John River, is halted by the discovery of the Furbish lousewort, a plant believed to be extinct.

Strangely similar, no? By the way, that's a story from 1976. Coulter doesn't tell you that little tidbit, making you think it happened last week."

GASP! Ann? Guilty of plagiarism?! Say it ain't so!
I mean, just because parts of every other book she's written have been cut and pasted from other sources is no reason to assume she'd do it AGAIN, right? Er...

yes, it is clear cut plagerism.
since she did not quote the source.

If the monkeys at typewriters could eventually type Shakespeare,
why couldn't this one monkey accidentally duplicate other people's sentences? (This will be the spin.)

it'll be interesting to see if there are tons of examples of this, and if so, will her publisher do what the Harvard student's publisher did -- pull the books from shelves ...

More likely, Coulter will condemn her critics as being examples of "liberal media bias."

I doubt the Press Herald will sue.
They're so right wing and biased.

Lets hope, then, that someone has the deep pockets to take her lawyers on.

more likely the court of public opinion will decide they've had enough of her.

The problem is that Coulter, Mark Levin, Hannity, Savage, etc., are able to "sell" tens of thousands of books to book clubs, think tanks, other conservative outlets, who then offer them to conservatives for free or big discounts. Check out newsmax.com, and you'll see ads for Coulter's book at $4.99, for example (if you get a subscription ...)

As a result, these books zoom up the NYT charts, and then when the MSM doesn't review them positively (or at all), Levin, Rush, Hannity, Savage, etc., scream about liberal media bias -- using this sham as a rallying cry to further drive up their sales and ratings, and justify their pathetic existences.

Just a little background ...
