Palestinian Leaders Allege Bush Told Them He's On A Mission From God

President George W. Bush told Palestinian ministers that God told him to invade Afghanistan and Iraq, and to create a Palestinian State, the BBC is reporting in a new series.

In Elusive Peace: Israel and the Arabs, a three-part series on BBC TWO (airing Oct. 10, Oct. 17 and Oct. 24), Abu Mazen, Palestinian Prime Minister, and Nabil Shaath, his Foreign Minister, describe their first meeting with President Bush in June 2003.

Nabil Shaath says: "President Bush said to all of us: 'I'm driven with a mission from God. God would tell me, "George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan." And I did, and then God would tell me, "George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq …" And I did. And now, again, I feel God's words coming to me, "Go get the Palestinians their state and get the Israelis their security, and get peace in the Middle East." And by God I'm gonna do it.'"

Abu Mazen was at the same meeting and recounts how President Bush told him: "I have a moral and religious obligation. So I will get you a Palestinian state."

The series is produced by Norma Percy, who also produced the 1998 series, The 50 Years War, which reviews 50 years of Israeli-Palesitinian relations, beginning with the U.N decision to partition Palestine in 1947.

Hey, the Blues Brothers were on a Mission from God and they made out pretty good in the end - Jamming in the "County Blues." Is Bush Jake or Elwood?

I don't know if he told them that or not. But, let me tell you who is not a reliable source. The propagandist Nabil Shaath. I have the same faith in Abu Mazen/Mahmoud Abbas, the man with many names.

Kudos to JABBS for relaying this. I wonder if the MSM will bother.

Cindy, the item does say "allege." I think that's appropriate, given the sources.

I'm not sure if he fell asleep watching The Blues Brothers, or if the rumors that he's back on the sauce are true.

Although, the fact that the man is a pathological liar could have much to do with his comments.

Please. Must you have to disparage the good names of Jake and Elwood by conflicting them with W.
