You Can't Make This Stuff Up ...

President Bush was supposed to land (in San Antonio) on Friday afternoon on the first stop of a tour intended to make clear that he was personally overseeing the federal government's preparations for Hurricane Rita's landfall. But the weather did not cooperate.

It was too sunny.

In a White House that likes to choreograph the president's appearances days or weeks ahead, it was a reminder that the newest strategy -- to put Mr. Bush close to the center of the action -- had its risks.

Another White House official involved in preparing Mr. Bush's way noted that with the sun shining so brightly in San Antonio, the images of Mr. Bush from here might not have made it clear to viewers that he was dealing with an approaching storm.

Ah hell no, Bush invented the photo op, NO other president in history ever did the photo op thing. Sheesh the gall of this president!

Another White House official involved in preparing Mr. Bush's way noted that with the sun shining so brightly in San Antonio, the images of Mr. Bush from here might not have made it clear to viewers that he was dealing with an approaching storm.

“Clinton was so "hard" on crime that he appeared regularly in photo ops with uniformed officers behind him as he proposed or signed legislation narrowing civil liberties or expanding federal punishments.”

“the president ran alongside the Rev. Bill Hybels, whose Willow Creek Community Church outside Chicago is a hot spot for Baby Boomer believers. Afterwards, the two adjourned to the White House porch facing Pennsylvania Avenue to pray -- in full view of reporters and tourists.
A mere photo opportunity? A megachurch pastor communing with a sincere seeker? A politician wooing an evangelical superstar? All of the above?”

The peoples president remember:
President Clinton Pays $200 for Haircut....

Air traffic was delayed and here was this, you know, populist "putting-people-first" president, you know, just basking in the perks of his new power sitting on the runway getting a HAIRCUT!, air travelers be damned.
Bill Clinton sitting on Air Force One getting his hair cut while people around the country cooled their heels and waited for him, became a metaphor for a populist president who had gotten drunk with the perks of his own power and was sort of not sensitive to what people wanted.

I love the double standard game U guys play.

Did anyone say that Bush was the only one ever to do a photo op? No.

But look at the examples you provide for Clinton. Are any of them an emergency? Are any of them en par with Hurricane Rita (or Katrina)? No.

Apples and oranges, Snoop. Apples and oranges.

Seems Snoop is limited to the usual conservative drivel ...

From The Daily Howler:

If you believe John Harris (author of the Clinton biography, "The Survivor,"), the Washington press corps felt “disdain” for the newly-installed President Clinton—indeed, it felt something “close to contempt.” They “extend[ed] him uncommonly little deference” when he took office, Harris judges. Indeed, at Harris’ own paper, the Washington Post, front-page stories by leading correspondents betrayed a “thinly veiled disdain.” And more: “In short order there was a low-grade war under way between the Clinton White House and the veteran reporters who covered it, which became one of the great antagonisms to mark the Clinton years.” This “contempt” and disdain” may seem surprising to those who have heard of the corps’ liberal bias. But Harris just keeps dishing details about the press corps’ puzzling conduct—for example, about the trivial matters for which the new prez was now mocked:

HARRIS (page 56): From Clinton’s perspective, perhaps the most surprising part of life in the presidency was the sensation of being constantly and mercilessly watched and judged. He was judged for his clothes. “The president’s suit, as he stood, looked to be a couple sizes too big,” read the White House pool report for January 25 [1993]. “Perhaps this is one of his fat wardrobe pieces from the campaign?”

Six years later, this same simpering corps would staged a two-year war in which they mocked a vice president’s clothes (his earth tones; his blue suits; his brown suits; his polo shirts; his boots; the three buttons he wore on his suits)—just one part of the brainless war which sent the hapless George Bush to the White House. But according to Harris, his colleagues mocked Clinton for more than his clothing during those first weeks in office:

HARRIS (continuing directly): He was judged for the company he kept. The Washington press said he was starstruck...Most famously of all in those early months, Clinton was judged for his haircut. It was performed under a “personal services” contract with the stylist Christophe, whose usual rate was $200 an hour. One day in May, Air Force One sat on the tarmac in Los Angeles for nearly an hour while Christophe clipped. This forced the closure of two runways, although initial reports that air traffic was kept circling for hours turned out some weeks later to be wrong. By then, Clinton had long since apologized: “The Secret Service asked and they were told there would be no delays. It was just a mess-up.” Too late—this trivial episode had already entered the anti-Clinton mythology.

Man u guys are easy. CPJ how long did it take u to dig up that nonsense?

I’ll give you guys a clue I have seen and read most of the stuff that is posted here and on other liberals blogs. Remember when I said keep you friends close and your enemies closer.
U see U liberals don’t and won’t do that. You all recycle each others rants.
CPJ I’m well aware that the haircut thing was bogus
Haircut Story,
just as the “It was too sunny” supposed slam on Bush was completely bogus as well. There is always more to ANY story. But I have said and will keep saying its you mission to spread crap. Getting and posting a crap story from the New York “communist” Times is hardly worth the effort. A paper of a bunch of left wing hacks lead by Maureen “the evil redhead liberal” Dowdy. Which by the way they are in the process of laying off a bunch of other liberal hack writers because the paper sucks.

Rob, Cutiepie, why do you bother arguing with Snoop? He doesn't care about logic. He's going to condescend you, pretty much laugh at you, no matter how much sense you make.

Just ignore him. If he's smart, he'll build arguments on facts, not just his "my way or the highway" tone.

And if not, rest assured, we all think he's silly, and nothing more.

Average Joe I’m hurt, but also confused. What logic are you taking about, be specific.
While you thinking of it, let me ask soooo the following quotes from your liberal brethren is dis logic?

oh Lord, is there no end to the bullshit?
Sheesh. Has anyone else in history needed so many props?

Find logic in there so I can be informed.

“no matter how much sense you make.”

I’m shocked someone made an honest reasonable point and I Snoop ignored?
U see Joe you are what I expect out of libs.

“At a town hall meeting of the Congressional Black Caucus held in Washington last Thursday, Mr. Rangel, a DEMOCRAT of Harlem, faulted Mr. Bush for his response to Hurricane Katrina. Lambasting the president for being insensitive to blacks affected by the storm, Mr. Rangel said, to an appreciative audience: "George Bush is our Bull Connor."

Yes logic there Joe. Just wondering Joe you know who Bull Connor was?

I heard from a reliable source who saw a 25-foot-deep crater under the levee breach. It may have been blown up to destroy the black part of town and keep the white part dry."

Yup more logic since all of the liberal blogs has ads with crying black folks on dem you must believe this theory. Is it GUILT?

We are in a global warming emergency state, and these storms are going to become more frequent, more intense,"

Yup logic there, Bush created hurricanes just in the last year or so.

“America is waking up to the fact that they've got an idiot in a cowboy hat in the White House. the winds of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita are in his face.
I guess that's why Bush is drinking again, eh?”

Yup angry liberal logic, how could I have missed.

The Pledge of Allegiance is an evil thing. No other country on the planet, except perhaps North Korea and Cuba, (requires) a pledge of allegiance.

Societies worse off 'when they have God on their side'
RELIGIOUS belief can cause damage to a society, contributing towards high murder rates, abortion, sexual promiscuity and suicide, according to research published today.

Oh Man, logic!

Yep joe, ignore me. I is so silly. You libs have intelligence and logic on your side.

oh Lord, is there no end to the bullshit?

Oops that logic was taken.

Rob and Cutiepie ...

Clinton and other presidents have done photo-ops for as long as there have been cameras. ... But what White House team OTHER than Bush's would make photo-op needs so important during an emergency??? What WH team other than Bush's even THINKS about the backdrop for their speech during an emergency? It's just like during Katrina, Bush's team made sure to have a MULTICULTURAL IMAGE behind him during his initial talk about the federal response. The WH creates those images for Bush campaign stops, but WTF being concerned about image when people feared hundreds, if not thousands of Americans were DEAD???

Snoop pretends not to understand the difference. It's easier to look the other way when REALITY gets in the way of IDEOLOGY.

“I was tuning in and out of Bush's massive photo op on the Gulf Coast yesterday, and everything at the time seemed just a little too pat for me. From the 'briefing' that went on in a hangar full of helicopters to his walking down a street in Biloxi and having three regular citizens walk up to him for comforting to the last press availiability of the day when he announced that the Convention Center was secure and the levees were being repaired, it was clear that the game plan from the White House was for Bush to go to the region, look decisive, comfort a few citizens, and announce at the end of the day that all was well.”
U guys are unbelievable!
Your not talking about anything NEW, The above quote is similar to those on about 30 plus LIBERAL BLOGS talking about the same crap.
My point folk is you don’t give a crap about the damm photo op itself. IT’S THE GUY IN THE PHOTO!
Nothing, NOTHING, he says or does matters to you people.
My question what would a democrat president have done different?
You know the answer, not a damm thing! However, you liberals are in such a haze about screwing this guy, this administration and this country so if dude picks his freaken nose you people will go on a long pseudo-intellectual blog discussion about it.
“Bush's team made sure to have a MULTICULTURAL IMAGE behind him during his initial talk about the federal response”
All of a sudden, you are concerned about the use of colored people in a photo op?
Who are you kidding!
How many liberal blogs have colored people in the stupid liberal ads. Show you care, right.
In case you don’t remember, Bush can’t run for reelection. SO when its time to try to promote YOUR liberal candidate in 06 and 08 are U gonna use Bush’s phony photo op as some sort of “vote for the liberal, we Liberals don’t engage in phony photo ops” slam?
Feel free to file this away and try and get your guy or gal elected using this class (A) material.

Snoop, not happy with anything anyone else says, changes the subject.

So now the problem is that the JABBS item was unoriginal?

"Your not talking about anything NEW, The above quote is similar to those on about 30 plus LIBERAL BLOGS talking about the same crap.
My point folk is you don’t give a crap about the damm photo op itself. IT’S THE GUY IN THE PHOTO!"

Snoop, why post a quote from another liberal blog as evidence that JABBS is unoriginal? It makes no sense.

And how do you know what liberals "give a crap about"? You've stereotyped liberals so much, with your breathless condescension, I can't imagine that you can reference anything but your own opinion, which is what people have been saying here all along.

How many times do people have to make the same point to you, Snoop? Photo ops are expected. Photo ops during an emergency are not.

If you want to debate, try answering that question, rather than going back to your hysterical spin. Find an equivalent example of Clinton's team placing such importance of image during an emergency.

“If we re-elect Bush because a majority of Americans believe the half-truths and lies shoved down their throats, well, don't let some New York Times liberal columnist tell you that there was a body of intelligence out there before the election that was ignored because it contradicted the administration.

The Democrats need an issue. They need to make that issue their holy crusade. I'm not even sure what the issue is, but it has to be the key to the 2006 election season, and possibly beyond. It likely has to be a cultural issue, perhaps one that affects women and children the most. But whatever the issue is, it has to be DRIVEN home in every state and congressional district. It has to become an issue that can CHIP AWAY at the cultural block.
(I don't know the answer), but I know that if the Democrats want to have a role in governing this decade, they need to take back Congress. And the way to do that is to CREATE A CRUSADE that can motivate voters as powerfully as abortion, homosexuality and taxes. To expect the cultural block to change their way is naive -- they see what they are doing as their moral obligation, as good Christians -- and their numbers will only continue to grow with Bush in the White House.

The GOP relies on an IGNORANT populace to gain power, and that as a result, Red State America votes against its own interests -- and came away more convinced than ever.
The one gap I found traveling in the various Red States was information. The radio dial offered no liberal voice, other than when I briefly found a Miami station broadcasting Air America. The local newspapers leaned conservative, and sometimes very conservative.
How is one to come to a "fair and balanced" perspective, given that environment?”
(Yup conservatives are dunces, YOU must steer us straight, such utter arrogance)

The point to all of this people is MAKE BUSH THE ISSUE!
You LIBERALS STILL don’t have your own issues so therefore attack Bush with as much fury and rant you can drum up.

Again, this has nothing to do with a photo op. But you liberal angst refuses to let you see otherwise.

FYI, Rob, homies... I don’t take anything here personally, and again what does ole Snoop need to get mad about?

(Yup conservatives are dunces, YOU must steer us straight, such utter arrogance)

-- That's not what the quote you have says. Being IGNORANT is not the same thing as being STUPID.

IGNORANT in this context means UNINFORMED. You can be uninformed and still very smart. For example, I have a college education, but I'm ignorant of who the best ice hockey players are (or field hockey, for that matter). If I were to try to draw any broad conclusions on ice hockey based on a single biased source of information (like the hometown broadcaster for a team in New York), I could very well be ignorant of the entire story.

Without information, "how is one to come to a 'fair and balanced' perspective.'" I don't see anything in what you've quoted that is factually inaccurate.

I also note that you still haven't responded directly to multiple similar statements. Is that the way it goes, Snoop, make a WILD and FALSE accusation that you can't defend, and then when you are called to task, make a new WILD and FALSE accusation?

As someone who reads a lot of blogs -- and I assume MSM, too -- you have access to reams of information. Yet you still make WILD and FALSE accusations about liberals and Democrats. How do you expect someone from a rural area of South Carolina -- with a local conservative paper, a state-level conservative paper, Rush Limbaugh on the radio and no NPR or Air America -- to do any better?

2:32 PM
Blogger Snoop said...

“Yet you still make WILD and FALSE accusations about Liberals and Democrats.”

Angelina I’ll tell you I’m a pretty reasonable guy, I make light of some political issues because unlike some people I don’t eat, sleep and crap politics.
However, let us not be mistaken, through personal experience, considerable civil and community involvement, considerable political and civil background, former military.
One thing I don’t do is make WILD accusations about Liberal Democrats and Liberals in particular. Nothing that I say here or on my blog is based on speculation, accusation misinformation or however you want to put it.
I have a long history dealing with the “white” liberal establishment so although I make cursory remarks here and on a few other liberal blogs (ones that allow me to post)
I like reading liberal ideological rants, but what makes it fun is liberals are remarkable predictable in their ranting theories and contrite hypocritical dialogue.

“Without information, "how is one to come to a 'fair and balanced' perspective.'"

I won’t bother commenting on that statement Ange because as a liberal, you are incapable of understanding how incredible condescending that statement is.

You and the masses in your liberal haven can continue to think I’m off base.
However, saying my accusations is wild and false is simply a joke.

U guys if nothing else are entertaining.

Peace Snoop
