For Latest Bush Nominee, It's Not What She Knows. It's Who She Knows.

"(U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency Nominee) Julie Myers does know people in all the right places. She was chief of staff to Chertoff in the Justice Department, associate under Kenneth W. Star, special assistant to Bush on personnel issues, recently married to Chertoff's current chief of staff John F. Wood, and is the niece of (Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff) Gen. Richard B. Myers.

Myers largest management experience comes from her time at Commerce, where she oversaw 170 employees and a $25 million budget; ICE (the second-largest investigative agency in the federal government) has more than 20,000 employees and a budget of approximately $4 billion."

Don't the real Republicans understand that they should not be in in the same party as these clowns?

I'm not sure there are enough real Republicans left to make a difference. I'm talking old-school, fiscally conservative, rock-ribbed conservatives. Do they make up even 3% of the populace anymore?

Republicans now all fall into one or more of three categories: Greedy, Racist, and/or Religiously Insane.

Yes, London, you are so right. In your infinite wisdom you have managed to succinctly show that all Republicans are either greedy capitalistic pigs, racists, and/or insane. How is the view from your high horse?

This Republican does not like to see people appointed to positions that are not qualified. In this instance, it seems she is being presumed to be unqualified, despite having managed a large number of people before. Sometimes, this type of criticism is spot on, but in this case, I do not see it. Her father was influential, and her hsuband is influential, and that surprises anybody when talking about a political appointment ? Give me a break.

It's all one big damn patronage system. If you want to work at a high cabinet level position for this Administration all you have to do is be married to, or be the niece of, someone already connected to Bush. No wonder they always botch disaster management. It happened on 9/11 (My Pet Goat) and again in the case of Katrina (playing the guiatar). Sad how things work in Washington now.

I think this whole observation and the ensuing implication to be asinine.

For starters, what is wrong with such...? By most, accounts do you libs think President Bush is inept anyway? Shall I make the conclusion that you are dissapointed in such because you expect more from the President?

Thank you for you consideration of the matter.

How arrogant of you to make the the posture this story as if the Bush Administration is the only Admin to do such. Fact ofthe matter is, people who trust others, and trust their word have a reason to give them positions.

Quit being so naive and if one cannot focus on substantive issues, refrain from engagement.

undergod, are you seriously comparing the requirement on an intern's resume to the requirements of a senior official's resume.

It's hard to argue with such simplistic, sarcastic, meaningless comments as the one posted by undergod.
