You Can't Make This Stuff Up ...

Perhaps reacting to widespread criticism of President Bush's lengthy stay this August in Crawford, Texas, the Bush Administration is now trying to suggest the president hasn't been on vacation after all.

As reported in an Aug. 24 story in San Bernardino Sun, administration spokesman David Almacy said the reason that Bush is in Crawford, Texas, is due to a previously unreported renovation of the West Wing of the White House.

"He's operating on a full schedule; he's just doing it from the ranch instead of from the White House," Almacy said. "The only week he had officially off was this last week."

Does that mean that Bush hasn't broken former President Reagan's record for most vacation days?

What renovations are they doing?
If they're real, why didn't they say that from the start? Is the West Wing getting a beef up in case of attack?

I'll grant him this much. . .
I don't know anyone other than Bush who would say time spent in Crawford, Texas is a "vacation" -- especially in the summer heat. So if he wants to renege now, who am I to argue the merit of leisure time in Crawford?

How do these people sleep at night?
If they have to deny even an obvious, in-your-face kinda truth like the Crawford sabbatical, do you think there is EVER a time when they just law the truth out there - like, for real?

I would like to see a cool, calm, collected discussion of the...
merits of the Bush Administration.

Starting back to 2000.
What has Bush done to make America a better place?

Now, either I am more stupider than I would like to believe or this is the worst administration ever.

This is so baffling to me.

Somebody help me.

Freepers, and I know you are out there, tell me where I am wrong, where we are wrong.

Wouldn't
Camp David have been a much better place than the rance then?

At least at David, he is accessible to his employees, has more space, as entertainment and meeting cabilities, and has much better communication abilities.

Did anyone see the picture of him meeting with his national security staff? It was a joke.

This actually made me laugh.
I'd sure like to have a French-esque (5 weeks) holiday and call it "work." Unfortunately, as an accountant, I can not review my books while riding a bike or fly fishing. It's nice to see that bush can multi-task. Heaven knows one can't work in a place that is being renovated.

Full schedule, huh?
That means one of two things:

Either Bush was lying when he described one of those days as including a Little League game, lunch with Condi, a nap, and some leisure reading,

OR

The above-described day constitutes a "full schedule" for Bush.

So he works just as hard at the White House as at the ranch ??
That should give everyone pause. He doesn't seem to be working that hard at the ranch?

They're right--sort of

He hasn't taken a 5-week vacation. He's taken a 5-year vacation--from reality!

The truth is out. Bush lied, and too many have died. Bush has Mad Cowboy Disease. It causes brain rot (memory loss on non-existent WMD's), and incontrollable lying (lies told to Cindy Sheehan along with the new one "This is not a vacation"). he deserves a vacation ( Wrong ). It must be hard work killing all those soldiers for oil. The Mad Cowboy is back at the ranch...Troops are perishing and that black hat cowboy takes a vacation...Real "hard work" being a murderous "Mad Cowboy"... grrr

I'd say -
they're on the defensive. Anybody else notice that?

This certainly seems like the 1st time I've seen this kind of back-pedaling and justification of what this brain-dead man does.

It's not just about THIS vacation. He's been on vacation about 20% of the time, or about 1 YEAR OFF these past 5 years.

The reason for this is because Bush doesn't make policy. He's like a window dressing, a hologram of a leader. He's like the store mannequin who just looks good. He doesn't make policy.

Bush's caretakers know that because of his extensive brain damage and multiple character disorders, he needs a lot of time off.

It pains me to suggest any legitimacy behind the spokesperson's comment about construction work at the West Wing. But there was at least one story earlier in the year about renovations to be made this month in the press area within that wing of the White House. Find out more at:

If this excuse was legit, the administration could have couched it that way as Bush was leaving for Crawford.

It was only after criticism from just about everyone that this spokesman came along. The whole thing lacks credibility.
