You Can't Make This Stuff Up ...

"Even we at Fox News manage to get some lefties on the air occasionally, and often let them finish their sentences before we club them to death and feed the scraps to Karl Rove and Bill O'Reilly."

Fox News' London bureau chief, Scott Norvell, in a May 20 op-ed in Wall Street Journal Europe

Oooooooo ... bad FoxNews. Apparently irony and tongue in cheek humor is lost on jabbs. By the way, when was the last time that Brokaw, Jennings, or Rather had a Conservative on ?

Following all the disclosures and public perception surveys that Fox News slants coverage towards the right it is still lost on some people like the above poster.

I'm sorry, did Norvell say he was kidding? Has he subsequently said he was kidding?

So typical. It's like when Rod Paige was kidding when he called the NEA a "terrorist" organization. It's like when that conservative shockjock said he wanted to "kill" Michael Moore. Very funny stuff.

So typical. You do not have to state that your are kidding after the fact when it is patently obvious that you are kidding in the first place.

In regards to public perception, perhaps they seem to be so much more to the right, due to what they are being compared to, ie. Brokaw, Jennings, Rather, et al.

No. Based on the overwhelming evidences I've heard much from past Fox News producers and writers, Fox intentionally manipulates coverage to favor Right wing views and to cheer for the Bush Administration.
I thought this was well known and feel guilty of repeating stale news on this blog through the necessity of bringing it up again for those unenlightened. It has nothing to do with comparing the station to "liberal" ones.

anyone who did not read this as tongue in cheek has serious issues. while you may believe fox news leans right, and i agree, you simply have to be kidding if you think this is serious. Fox does not come out and say it leans right. Duh!

Maybe this was put up here as humor. But it is under the header you cant make this stuff up, as if it is true but unbelievable.

Sometimes I feel bad for extremists. Not often but sometimes. Humor in life is so important. Consider it.

Provide some proof that this was meant tongue in cheek. Have you read the original article? Was there a funny headline? A cute cartoon?

before you run off at the liberal mouth, read the article. its about the BBC being leftist, which it is. the entire article has an edge to it and there is no sane person that would take that statement as any form of a statement of truth or of intent. this is just a waste of energy so i will stop at that.

I didn't read the entire article, but I read extended clips. And I didn't think it was funny.

Hey, if that was Norvell's intent, then fine. He's a riot. Personally, I question the intelligence of Norvell making jokes like that.

never said i liked the guy or thought much of him. and i dont think he was trying to be comical. he was trying to be more of a wiseass. never understand why opeds do this but it is common. stupid but there is no way he was advocating anything.

Did you read the quote ?! If this is not blatantly tongue in cheek, I do not know what is.

Oh, I forgot, I missed all of the reports of liberals getting clubbed to death on Fox News.

If it's a joke, it's a stupid joke.

Does any liberal think they have been physically clubbed to death on Fox? No. But verbally clubbed to death? Sure. Taken out of context or ignored by Brit Hume, been trampled on by Sean Hannity, been lied about by Bill O'Reilly? Absolutely.
