JABBS Included In Graduate School Class on Politics and the New Media

JABBS is proud to say it is part of a George Washington University Graduate School of Political Management class, "Politics and the New Media."

The class studies the "use of new media in the communications between politicians and citizens, effects on political rhetoric, and quality of communications in contemporary politics."

One class requirement has students anonymously posting comments over the next 10 weeks on two blogs of different political persuasions, from a list of 84 liberal, centrist and conservative blogs. JABBS is among 24 liberal blogs. (Click here to read the list of 84 blogs).

The class is taught by Emilienne Ireland, who along with husband Phil Tajitsu Nash authored "Winning Campaigns Online: Strategies for Candidates and Causes." She is president of Nash Interactive, a corporate and political consulting firm based in Bethesda, Md.

JABBS is honored to be included in this demonstration of democracy in action, and welcome students' posts.

In reading the list of the other 84 bloggs, I noticed that JABBS is the only one that uses a profanity (B.S. ie: Bull Shit) in its title. This really sets a poor example for the University's students. And the fact that the profanity is used as means for describing President Bush makes it even more offensive, especially to those who were taught at an early age to always respect the office of the President, even when disagreeing with its actions. Sadly, it's just another example of how liberalism has warped our political debate to the point where such rhetoric is deemed to have some redeeming intellectual value. I pray for the Good Students of Washington University. Pray that they are not infected with the Mental Disorder known as Liberalism.

You're assuming that's what B.S. stands for.

It could stand for "Blatant Spin."

JABBS never uses profanity -- in fact, I don't remember a time in any post when JABBS wrote out the B.S.

Thanks again, Michael Savage wannabe.

What's funny is how easily conservatives screw up basic facts.

It's George Washington University, in Washington. Washington University is in St. Louis.

Liberalism is a mental disease, huh?
An elementary school comment deserves a trip back to elementary school.

America was built on a foundation of liberalism.
Here are the dictionary definitions of liberalism verses conservative, as opposed to the ones imposed by Republicans, to demonstrate most Americans probably are liberal, even when they call themselves conservative.

Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry.
Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded.
Of, relating to, or characteristic of liberalism.

Conservatism: Favoring traditional views and values; tending to oppose change.

All those suggestions of what the B.S. could stand for are very creative and make sense. However, the bottom line is the B.S. stands for Bull Shit and anybody who thinks different truely is eating some blantant spin.

As someone who hasn't gone to George Washington U, but has gone to Wash. U, I can say that if the University students haven't heard or know of the term "B.S." before they took the class, they probably aren't Poli Sci majors in the first place.

especially to those who were taught at an early age to always respect the office of the President, even when disagreeing with its action

Hey, where were you when this principle wasn't being followed with Clinton?

People who fling mud will have it flung back at them sooner or later.

Get over it.

If Cheney can swear on the Senate floor, then I don't have a problem with the JABBS name -- no matter what the B.S. stands for.

The course syllabus includes right wing as well as left wing blogs. Also, it's a graduate course, so we're all adults.
I'm thrilled to find this blog. I'm tired of seeing journalists who are afraid of either having their access cut off, or of offending the big corporations that pay their salaries.
